An exhibition of objects that were found or bought with the particular thought or intention to one day use in the making of an artwork. However, days or months or even years have passed, and still no use for these objects has been found. Perhaps the objects have gained a status whereby they have become too important to combine with anything else. If this is so, consider the possibility that these objects, which have the potential to be elements of an artwork, could in fact be exhibited as works of art themselves. The objects in question may not necessarily be material; they could be a source of inspiration or a starting point for a work that was never realised.
In curating Objects in Waiting, we hope to provide an opportunity for artists to unburden themselves of something which may have taunted them from a corner of the studio for years.
This are the objects that first seduced me and then haunted me for years:

Baudrillard’s seduction in contemporary artefacts

For those interested, I have uploaded the paper I delivered during last week’s Engaging Baudrillard conference here.

What are friends for…
If Julio asked me to title his latest collage, I would call this one “Solipsism, or the view that the self is the only thing known to exist”. I like it. Especially since, like often happens with one’s images, I did not instantly recognise myself. Obviously I was not there Äìthis is what these images are about, after allÄì but I did doubt it, for a negligeable split second. Have you ever wondered if you are here or there when in front of a mirror?

Mischievous
When no one was looking, I loaded this page… Laura Gonzalez in the degree show…

Felix in Venice
This is excellent news! I suppose this means that, if I was in two minds about attending my third Biennale, Felix might have swayed the lever into the yes position.
Split Flip
I have uploaded Split Flip, new draft Flash animations dealing with subjective contradiction, tembling, flips, spilts, obsessions and comic repetition. Click here to see them.
Come and hear me speak!
My abstract for the forthcoming Engaging Baudrillard conference has been accepted. I will be delivering a paper entitled Created to lead astray: Baudrillard’s seduction in contemporary artefacts at Swansea University between the 4th and 6th September 2006. Read my abstract.
